Windows 11 tools or addons to use now

Windows 11 is missing so many great features people ‘re already used to. Luckily, there are Windows 11 addons you can use to get your favourite features back.

Windows OS has changed a lot over the years and has lost some of these great features along the way. To be honest, Windows 11 has a number of exciting new features when compared to Windows 10.

However, it also lacks some of Windows 10’s great features people are already used to. One of those features is the ability to ungroup the icons in the Taskbar.

For Windows PC users, taskbar window grouping is one of the many favourite Windows 7 features people still use today. But is it possible to bring it back?

Windows used to give users the option to get the old ungroup icon style. But on the latest Windows 11, users cannot ungroup taskbar icons, at least not from the settings.

Best third-party Windows 11 addons

Previous Windows’ features such as taskbar window grouping help users to put all active or open apps into one group, thus reducing the clutter on the taskbar.

Also, previous Windows OS like Windows 7 and 10 offer the option to ungroup taskbar icons in the settings. However, this option has been removed in Windows 11.

This means you can no longer ungroup taskbar icons from Taskbar settings. You will have to use third-party Windows 11 addons to get those great favourite Windows features back.

This article features some of the best Windows 11 addons to ungroup and separate multiple Taskbar window icons on Windows 11 PC.

#1]. Start11

Start11 brings a Windows Classic theme to Windows 11

Stardock’s Start11 is a powerful third-party Windows 11 addon you can use to ungroup Taskbar icons. Mind you, Start 11 is a premium software and it’s available for $6.

However, you also can try it out for 30 days if you prefer. Install Start11 and launch the app. Go to the Start Menu, scroll down to the Stardock folder, and then choose Start11.

  • Bring a Windows Classic theme to Windows 11.
  • Choose from several Start menu layouts.
  • Position the taskbar at the top or bottom.
  • Change the Start menu color, transparency, and corners.
  • Control Icon grid spacing.
  • Adjust taskbar blur, colour, and transparency.
  • Restore Taskbar context menu.
  • Add Folders and Pages to Start menu layouts.
  • Enhanced search capabilities with richer results.
  • Create your own Shortcut links.

#2]. StartAllBack

Restore and improve the Windows taskbar with StartAllBack

StartAllBack is another good Windows 11 addon you can use to ungroup the Taskbar icons. It’s designed to fix most annoyances that users may have with Windows 11.

Download and install the app, and it will automatically make some changes, like moving your taskbar to the left and bringing back the old-school start menu.

Also, the app will launch automatically, otherwise, you can right-click the Start button and click Properties to launch it manually. StartAllBack is a pretty robust program that offers a multitude of features that you may find helpful.

  • Restore and improve the Windows taskbar.
  • Move the taskbar to the top, left, or right edges.
  • Restore and improve File Explorer and Control Panel.
  • Launch apps and go to system places in one click.
  • Change the Start menu color, transparency, and corners.
  • Restore and improve taskbar context menus.
  • Adjust taskbar blur, colour, and transparency.
  • Fast and responsive taskbar menus.
  • Restore and improve the Start menu.
  • Separate corner icons with Windows 7/10 UI.

  • #3]. Explorer Patcher addon

Improve Windows 11 with Explorer Patcher addon

ExplorerPatcher is a small free utility addon you can install to be able to ungroup taskbar icons. It lets you personalize the Taskbar and ungroup icons for better visibility.

Mind you, this addon is still in early development, therefore, you can expect a few bugs and crashes (though this may not necessarily happen to you).

Go ahead and download ExplorerPatcher from GitHub. Install the app, and it will automatically set the Taskbar icon alignment to the left. The best part about this app is that the Taskbar icons are set to never combine by default, so you don’t really need to do anything.

However, you can force it if it doesn’t automatically launch. Right-click on the taskbar and select Properties. Click on Taskbar style and select Windows 10.

There are plenty of other taskbar customization options you can explore in Explorer Patcher Properties.
