When it comes to social media management tools, we all know that Hootsuite is arguably the number one tool. It’s a popular social media management tool and it’s very powerful too.

Hootsuite offers both premium and free accounts and can be easily integrated with a huge number of social networking websites, so that you can be able to manage your social media activities from one dashboard.

What does Hootsuite really do? Is it the right tool for your business? Well, this social media management tool allows you to publish and schedule as well as monitor and analyse your social media activities.

Best Hootsuite alternatives for social media management

HOOTSUITE alternativesMind you, Hootsuite is only free for up to 3 social network accounts and with over 9 million users, Hootsuite is arguably the most popular social media management tool.

Yes, Hootsuite allows you to easily manage and schedule posts to multiple social media profiles on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare and more, but is it the best for everyone?

While Hootsuite may well suit many individuals and businesses, you will all agree with me that it will not be the best fit for everyone. So, below are some of the best Hootsuite alternatives for social media management.

#1). Edgar

Edgar social media tool

Edgar is a social media scheduling tool like no other. Instead of publishing your updates just once and throwing them away like yesterday’s rubbish, it carefully catalogues them in a limitless library that you build over time. Use Edgar to get more mileage out of every update.

With this tool, all of your updates are sorted into categories that you create and published on a schedule that you choose, so Edgar publishes what you want, when you want it. No manual scheduling, no busywork, and no hassle – just the peace of mind!

After Edgar publishes every update in a category, it simply pulls more from your library. You never run out of messages in your queue, and your handcrafted updates get the chance to be seen, shared, and loved by brand new people.

#2). Friends+Me

Friends+Me social media tool

Friends+Me helps you to focus on Google+ to save significant amount of money and time while still achieving goals by cross-promoting your content across all social networks for you. You can easily schedule to make post to your social network accounts as soon as 5 minutes later or up to 3 days later.

This tool allows you to selectively cross post to Google+ pages, Twitter, LinkedIn (profiles, pages and groups), Facebook (profiles, pages and groups), Tumblr and even App.Net.

It has a scheduling system similar to Buffer and cross-posts intelligently to other networks (including using full images, headings and descriptions). This tool also comes with Google Chrome extension to share content you discover to your Google+ accounts. It offers both premium and free plans (free plan only allows 1 account for every supported social network).

#3). Commun.it

Commun.it social media tool

Commun.it is a full Twitter community management tool or CRM. This social media tool is probably one of the best relationship management tools out there. It helps you to cultivate your followers on Twitter and make important connections to build your business.

You can manage multiple Twitter accounts and find out who is relevant in your Twitter community. Examples include your influencers or people who support you. You can also see who is talking about you or your business or who is linking to your website and interact with them.

My favourite function is that it will look into your most up-to-date feed and organise your followers into three groups: Influencers, Top supporters and Engaged Twitter users. By grouping your users, you’re able to focus on not only influential users but people who have previously shared your content and have taken the time to engage with you.

#4). SproutSocial

Sproutsocial social media tool

SproutSocial is a social media management tool created to help businesses find new customers and grow their social media presence. This is an engagement management tool that helps businesses provide exceptional consumer experiences across social networks.

SproutSocial is one of the best Hootsuite alternatives you can use to manage your business social media. In fact, it’s a big competitor to Hootsuite with some awesome features (really snazzy reports, multiple bit.ly url shortener integration, Google+ pages etc).

It does have a hefty price tag though- prices start at $59/user/month (this is a recent update, as it used to be $39/mth). No doubt about it, Sprout Social is one of the most popular social media dashboards for social media enthusiast and agencies. But the fact is that there is no free account (though they offer a free trial) making it difficult for small businesses to use the tool.

#5). AgoraPulse

AgoraPulse social media tool

AgoraPulse is one of the best and most powerful social media management tools out there today. AgoraPulse integrates with Twitter and Facebook pages (with Instagram coming soon).

One of the big advantages in using the tool is that you can add and manage unlimited team members. It synchronises Facebook page roles and you can even add custom roles to give custom rights to each team member. There are different plans, but this is based on the number of social networks you want to manage.

This tool aims to offer enterprise level features at a much lower cost. The $29/mth plan allows you to manage 1 Twitter profile and 1 Facebook page where as the $99/mth plan allows you to manage up to 5 Facebook pages and 5 Twitter profiles- all with unlimited team members.

#6). Rignite

Rignite social media tool

What we love about this social media tool is that it helps businesses to easily grow social followers, boost engagement, and win sales. You can run end-to-end social media campaigns across multiple networks, get campaign level reporting to know what’s working, monitor and engage from a single dashboard and much more with this tool.

#7). MavSocial

MavSocial social media tool

MavSocial is fairly a new social media management tool but it offers traditional features such as managing, monitoring, posting and cross posting to multiple networks. This tool solves the problem of managing all your social media needs!

In addition to supporting Facebook pages, Twitter and LinkedIn (profiles, pages and groups), MavSocial also integrates with Tumblr and YouTube as well as the Chinese and Japanese networks Youku, Weibo and Renren with full international character support.

This tool is also a digital assets manager which stores and manages all your images, videos and audio files where you can easily re-use them in future. Not only can you upload your own content, but you can also licence stock images from within MavSocial.

#8). Buffer

Buffer social media tool

Buffer is arguably one of the easiest way to share contents on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn. This a popular social media tool that helps you schedule posts on popular social media platforms.

Buffer easily integrates with a large number of social networks including Facebook (profiles, pages and groups), Twitter, LinkedIn (profiles, pages and groups), Google+ pages and App.net. Also, you can cross post to multiple networks and decide whether you want to post straight away, add your post queue or schedule at a later date.

It allows you to schedule updates to post at optimal times, whether you’re around or not. You can also build up a queue of awesome content to share with your friends and followers, and follow up on your posts with Buffer’s straightforward analytics to see which posts performed best.

#9). Socialdraft

Socialdraft social media tool

Socialdraft is a powerful social media management tool and one of the best Hootsuite alternatives. It is a simple-to-use social media calendar for brands.

This online tool features a drag and drop calendar that allows users to drag and drop posts to duplicate or re-schedule them on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

The tool is great for teams as it allows easy collaboration and project grouping. You can schedule hundreds of social media posts with the click of a button.

#10). Oktopost

Oktopost social media tool

  1. What a great list you have here! I think Edgar and Bufer are the best social media scheduling tool I have used. I am also a fan of Commun.it. It is a full Twitter community management tool and I really like it.

However, there are some tools you mentioned here that I have never heard of. I think I will sign up for SocialDraft and AgoraPulse for some of my clients. I will keep you updated.

  2. Hi,
I would like to suggest you to go ahead and try Blog2social, this is my personal favorite, not only you have a single dashboard which will help you post across platforms but also it requires no cron job done. You just have to simply install and activate it.

  3. Hey,

Thank You for sharing the list of Hootsuite alternatives. It’s indeed a great post and an interesting read. I was researching about alternatives which could be used with low cost and added benefits and I came across this compelling post where I found some other alternatives for Hootsuite. If you could provide me more insights on it would be great.
    Thanks
